You know that scene in Finding Nemo where Dory sings the “Just keep swimming” song?
Yeah, I’ve been playing that on repeat in my head a whole lot lately!

Now back to the post…
I’m paddling at a full speed but feeling like there isn’t much to show for all the effort.
I know that it’ll pay off eventually. I just need to keep pushing through. We bought a terrorist puppy. I fell into the make your own Halloween costume trap again. I’m rechartering our scout troop… waaaaaah! The happy? I’m working on a huge, beautiful old piano that I can’t wait to show you! I just need more than 24 hours in a day. I also need to learn how to say “No.” Oh, speaking of, I had a really interesting doctors appointment where I learned a lot about myself and why I get so sick. Sometime I’ll have to share here but I’m still processing. For now, please excuse my erratic posting. I’m still here, just working on get my act together.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Until I hit that light, here is an easy and inexpensive fall craft project that you can put together in 10 minutes.
Quick and cheap… my favorite kind!
Old Book Pages (or any paper you’ve got!)
Jute, String, or Twine
Mini Clothespins
Permanent Marker
Paper Cutter or Scissors
Embellishments (if desired)
Want to know my trick for hanging banners on my furniture and mantle?
Ta-da!
Command Strips are one of the coolest inventions. They are super quick to put up, you don’t have to put nail holes in anything, and the clear ones blend into the background so you don’t see them.
The great thing about this paper pennant banner, other than how quick it comes together, is that you can adapt it to any holiday.
Just switch out your letters to spell what you want then add embellishments, if you so choose.
For fall, I added a leaf.
This banner can be as simple or as fluffy as you’d like.
For Halloween, I tied ribbon in between the letters.
By now y’all probably know that I don’t love Halloween, scary things, gore, or the dark. I lean far to the cutesy “It’s the Great Pumpkin” HAPPY Halloween route. I know, I have issues. Quit judging me and use plastic spiders, blood, and ghosts on your own banner! Sheesh.
Here’s a closer look at the ribbon.
Just grab some scraps, stack them, and use a small ribbon or thread to tie them to your banner.
These paper pennant banners are crazy fast and easy.
I know that there are lots of you out there who don’t think you have a crafty bone in your body. You’ve told me at the grocery store, at class parties, and on the way out of church. Yeah, you know who you are. I posted this little project just for you. Trust me, YOU really can make this. I think we can often get caught up in fancy projects with lots of steps and get overwhelmed or feel untalented.
Sometimes more is just more.
I guess what I am saying is, I’m giving you permission to scale it back and stop being so hard on yourselves. You don’t have to have a full on fancy Instagram worthy Thanksgiving tablescape if that’s not your thing. You can make decorating as simple and easy as you please.
Little things can make all the difference in our homes, and in our attitudes.
