If you’ve been to my home, you KNOW that our dark leather couch is in some serious need of some pillow friends. I’ve been wanting to make some for a while, but I just can’t find the fabric that I absolutely love. Then, if I did find that beloved fabric and make a cute pillow, my munchkins would probably wipe their boogers on it and I’d have to beat them with it. {I’m joking…sorta…} OK, that’s only partly the problem. Yes, there would be boogers and whoever else knows what smeared on said pillow, but more importantly, I have a unnatural fear of sewing zippers. I’ve tried, and tried, and tried. I can’t do it. Yes, Mother, I said CAN’T!!
The other night, while playing on Pinterest, I found the perfect pin for my situation!

Ta Duh!!
I’m so glad ladies like Maria from Yay I Made IT make nice patterns!
Why didn’t I think of this before? Welp, probably because I am a visual person and I have to see something to figure it out. I took some 18×18 pillow forms and some fabric that I’d been saving for some special project, though I have no idea what that is, {more sordid details about my addiction to fabric when I’m ready to acknowledge my hoard, er, um, problem.} and went to work.
Here’s what I ended up with. Not bad, eh?
And, the envelope back…
…which I happen to love for washing purposes but even more for the “I Just Need A Change” Decorating Syndrome that elicits screams from husbands around the world.
After I’d finished two basic pillows, I decided to attack another Pin that I have been eyeing on Pinterest. This cute little ruffly number from raggygirl on Etsy!
I had an old pillow form leftover from my little girls darling cowgirl themed bedroom that they grew out of…sniff!…and some cute stripey fabric that my Nana {my fabric drug pusher} gave to me, which made this project absolutely
wait for it
FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Ain’t she perty?
And, here is a nice family pic just for giggles…
My old couch is feeling much happier with his new pillow friends! Only problem? I may have acquired a new addiction.
Dun Dun DUN!
A moment of silence for Manly, please.
Yeah, I added more BIGGER ruffles, couldn’t help myself.
“more bigger” is good English, right? 😉
Love it! I am definitely going to make some soon.
Love them! I need some pillows….
Thanks for linking to my tutorial. I have used this simple pattern SOOO many times! They literally take me 10 minutes each. It’s awesome!
Super cute! Who needs pintrest, I’ll just read your blog 🙂 haha
