My family just enjoyed a week at my family reunion in sunny California. Needless to say, we are all going through withdrawals now that we are home! It’s soooooooo nice to have a few days where you are free from all the day to day crap and can just relax, have a blast, and be with the ones you love!
Other than a trip to Instacare, it was the perfect week, full of family, sun, and fun.
Back up, Instacare? Yep, because a mutant, psycho, blood thirsty, rabid {not really, but that’s how I picture her!} mosquito decided to bite me and then my foot did this…
Sad thing is, you can’t really even get the full scope of how enormous and ugly this was! It started blistering, bruising, and swelling all up my leg so we headed to the doctor’s. Turns out my little skeeter bite had developed into a crazy Staph like infection. One giant peanut butter consistency filled shot in the fanny, 2 antibiotic prescriptions, and a week later I finally can recognize my normal bony foot. THANK GOODNESS!
Anyway, I digress…
Our kids had a blast at Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, and the Wild Animal Safari Park, but MY favorite days were spent on the beach in Oceanside. {I did get to pet a dolphin at Sea World, which was A-freaking-MAZING and fulfilled a childhood dream of mine. Bet you didn’t know that when I was 14, I wanted to be a marine biologist, did ya? School counselor showed me how much math that would take and squashed that dream in a hurry.}
I got to eat at my FAVORITE restaurant with some of my favorite people.
And, I got to enjoy this…
It made the 14 hour drive home with a gassy 9 year old boy and 3 screaming girls bearable.
What I learned this week?
Don’t focus on the bad stuff. If I would have sat in my tent agonizing over my terribly sore foot, I would have been not only miserable, but would have surely missed out on all the incredible that was happening around me.
Slow down and watch the sunset, Missy. It only lasts so long.
Holy yikes batman! That’s no fun, but I like you forget all too often to enjoy the good. It’s just bad happens a lot more often and it’s hard to see the good sometimes, you and me girl we’ll learn together. LIVE and learn right?…love ya lots!
