Remember last summer when I scored that awesome haul headed to the dump? Well, this little table was part of it. While prepping for my last market, I ran across the table. I pulled it from my hoard stash along with some Seagull Gray paint and set to work. Can you believe this cutie was headed for the trash compactor! Completely solid wood.

Now back to the post…
I was in need of a little paint therapy so I hand-painted this piece.
Not sure how to stress enough that you NEED a good quality paint brush for hand painting. Trust me on this one. I know it’s an investment, I totally get that, but I promise you will save yourself a ton of time and frustration. So drop that clearance special and buy yourself a real brush. I have several Purdy’s and I also have a Cling On that I love. Remember to use a big brush for large areas and a small brush for tight spots to minimize brush strokes. Oh yeah, and while I’m talking about brushes, make sure yours is slightly damp before you start to paint. This will help prevent the paint from climbing up the ferrule (the metal part of the brush that attaches the hair to the handle) plus it will help your paint go on smoother. All you do is quickly run it under some water and squeeze the excess out. It should be barely damp not dripping wet, unless you are going for a washed look but that’s a different tutorial altogether.
Damp, quality paint brush.
You’re welcome.
Seagull Gray is my go-to gray furniture paint.
It’s light and there’s no silly blue undertone. It’s a fabulous neutral and pairs well with a wide array of furniture shapes and styles. I consider it a pretty no-fail color. If you’re hem-hawing choosing paint for a piece and you’re nervous, this is a great soft choice.
Ok, tell me…
Gray or Grey?
