I am totally digging the naked furniture leg look lately, you guys. I’d have snuck that in the title if it wouldn’t attract every porn loving spam-bot this side of the Playboy mansion. Beautiful oiled legs paired with a fresh coat of paint just makes me happy, what can I say? When a friend of mine brought me this entry table, I immediately knew I wanted to highlight the curvy base by painting the top while leaving the wood legs exposed.
I love when an idea for a piece jumps right out at me!
The table was pretty dinged up on the top section but, thankfully, the legs were in great condition. I didn’t take a “before” shot so I have nothing to show you. Oopsies. Imagine it for me, ok?
I gave the whole piece a good cleaning, heavily sanded down the top to remove the rings and scratches, lightly sanded the base, then I sealed the top with shellac to prevent any bleed through. (For more on how I prep my furniture, go HERE.) Next, I gave the entire base a fresh coat of gel stain to even out the rich deep wood tone. I left the piece to dry for a few days and then set to work painting. I very lightly distressed the edges so the dark wood could peek through then sealed the top with a clear coat. Rubbing the legs down with hemp oil helped to highlight all those gorgeous curves. I finished the transformation off with a fun matte paper in the drawer and the prettiest mercury glass knob for a little shine.

I’m calling it an entry table but this piece could really fit in a variety of spaces. It turned out exactly how I pictured it, which doesn’t happen very often because y’all know my mind tends to wander! The grey pairs so handsomely with the wood and is a good compromise between masculine and feminine.
Did I mention I love the oiled legs?

Speaking of listing, I’ve been toying with the idea of adding furniture to my Etsy shop. I haven’t bit the bullet yet, but I’ve been reading up a ton on it and am seriously considering it. Utah isn’t the best place to sell if it’s not part of an overpriced MLM. Kidding! Well, kinda. Really though, it’s a hard state to be a maker in so I’m trying to expand my vision. It sounds great except the whole shipping part, that has me crazy nervous.
