As someone who’s brain genuinely struggles sticking to task, I’ve never been good at goal setting or New Year’s resolutions. Growing up, I would have visions of grandeur, set ALL the goals, and then feel completely worthless and miserable when I’d inevitably fail. To combat my attention deficiency, I quit the resolutions and began to focus on one main theme back in 2012.
Just one little word instead of a dozen unattainable goals.

Developing a yoga practice has shown me that when I was choosing a word, what I was really doing was setting an intention for the year ahead. “Intentions are desires that we set in motion with the thoughts we think, the words we speak, and the actions we take.” Setting an intention is bringing your awareness to a quality, purpose, or virtue you want to develop or focus on. Instead of pointing out the negative or weakness in us like most resolutions, intentions are positive, hopeful, and high vibe.
Some of my words over the past 12 years include: Listen, Exhale, Rhythm, Joy, Magic, and Open.
The intention I set for 2023 was Nourish, and as I was in the depths of AIP, it seemed only fitting. Over the past 12 months, I have worked on nourishing not only my body, but my mind, my spirit, and my heart too. I can’t think of a time when I have done more inner work than this last year. It was beautiful, overwhelming, frustrating, a little heartbreaking, and often quite lonely, but the growth I have experienced is more than I could have ever imagined.

You’ve got to nourish to flourish, and that’s just what I have planned for 2024! This year, I’m choosing to Flourish. I’m pretty dang scared but if not now, when? I’ve planted the seed, sprouted, rooted, nourished, and grown. It’s time to bloom.
This quote from Alysha Waghorn has been living rent free in my mind for months. Every time I see it come up in my social feed, it hits me in the feels. Maybe you’ll love it as much as I do.
Darling, just go ahead and love your life.
Take pictures of everything. Capture the moments big and small that make you feel alive. Tell people you love them. And mean it- truly mean it. Talk to random strangers. Learn their stories. Do all the things that excite you and stop playing small. Stop being worried about all the things that can go wrong when the only thing that matters is all the magic that could go right.
There is so much life to be lived. So much love to receive. Open yourself up. Bloom!

Its no secret here that I love journaling. I’ve shared a few times how it helps me process and heal. I’m just getting ready to do my own intention journaling, so I put together some worksheets. I thought I’d offer them here as a free printable that you can fill out and tack on your vision board or glue into your journal. In it you’ll find 3 full pages of intention journaling prompts to work through the end of year thoughts and get you dialed in on your 2024 intention.
I hope it helps you get the thoughts flowing!
