Happy 2012 y’all!
It’s been a long break since the last post, but sometimes you just do what you have to do to get by, you know? With a trucker, 4 kids, Christmas, New Year’s, and a little vacation, I got a little busy, but had a lot of fun. Then, this past Thursday, my Grandpa Griffiths passed away. I can’t even begin to tell you where my head has been because it has been everywhere and nowhere all at once. So much introspection going on around here lately! But, life is good. If anything, I am learning to roll with the punches, as big or small as they may be.
So, here I sit, over a week into January, and I’m finally thinking about my New Year’s Resolutions. Did you set yours yet? Do you even set them? I know it’s probably old fashioned and most resolutions are forgotten by June, but I like them. It feels like January is a fresh clean page, like the bad from the last year gets wiped away and makes room for better things to come. Setting goals around New Year’s also helps me take a look at what IS and ISN’T working in my life…and looking back, it seems 2011 had a lot not working for it! That’s just how I learn, odd, I know.
As I started thinking about my resolutions played on the Internet, I saw a theme spanning several blogs. They were all talking about their “One Word”. The idea is to pick a word that describes your main focus for the year. While looking around blog land, I found a terrific free printable from Mique at 30days that really inspired me!

I love her blog. I LOVE this idea! LOVE LOVE LOVE!! Here’s my goals, just so I feel accountable.
One word: ORDER
Want:
1. Organized Home
2. Make a good friend
3. Get my septum fixed so I can breathe! {Air is nice, who knew?}
4. Become a better blogger
5. Have fun with my family *LAUGH!*
Need:
1. Set up a routine
2. Get up at a consistent time {as in NOT sleep in}
3. Put away laundry while it’s hot!
4. Menu plan…eew.
5. Family economy/chores
Share:
1. Send thank you note and snail mail just because I feel like it
2. Follow my promptings
3. Get more involved in my calling @ church
4. Sing 2 times this year
5. Monthly family service project
Succeed:
1. Monthly date night with my man!
2. Read scriptures 2x’s a week at least! {OK, so I just totally outed myself, didn’t I? I struggle!}
3. Attend the temple quarterly or more
4. Take a vacation
5. Learn to coupon
6. Run 1 race
Well, there you go. It’s not exciting by any means and the thought of many of those things make me vomit a little in my mouth, but I realize that life as it is just isn’t running so smooth. Somethings got to give. Lightbulb! Isn’t that the reason that I started this whole blog in the first place? Obviously, I’ve got a long way to go to develop my roots but, at least I’m trying. That’s all that matters, right? Maybe this is the year that I’ll finally establish a House of Order, or maybe we’ll just laugh a lot more and still have laundry all over my bed come December, who knows?
It’ll be fun finding out.
Present. I want to be present in the present, not thinking about the next thing to be done or the next project waiting for the next big thing. I struggle with being present fir my children. Thst is my 2012 goal.
Attitude! I want to have a better attitude, be kind patient and tender. To love my life everyday no matter if I’m constantly trying to make “lemonade”. I want to love deeper, live better and laugh lots! I believe that having a good attitude can change all that I want to change!
