Tonight I watched my husband’s dad sing “Feliz Navidad” into a candy cane. With a Santa hat and a big mustached smile, he danced around our living room with my little girls. As I giggled in the kitchen, I listened to my daughters squeal in delight as their beloved Grandpa dipped and twirled them across the floor.
Some men might be too insecure, but not this man!
Why?
Because he is a man among men. He truly understands the meaning of the word “Grandfather”. After the dancing was over and my father-in-law had gone home, I started thinking about my blessings.
Thanksgiving was a little hectic around here.
I cooked my first complete turkey dinner for my husband’s family, and well, lets just say I was a tad too overwhelmed to find a minute to sit and ponder what I’m thankful for.
Sad, huh? I mean, seriously! I screwed up the gravy and the noodles anyway, so why couldn’t I have taken a moment to be grateful?
Since I missed that chance, I thought I’d take a moment to express my gratitude for one of the greatest blessings I have in my life.
That blessing is them…
I am one lucky girl.
I am surrounded by incredible men. Real men. These are men who love their wives, honor their mothers, who adore their daughters, and who’s best friends are their sisters. These men inspire the best of those around them through love, faith, courage, and valor. These aren’t your run of the mill guys. They understand their purpose here and live life with joy. They honor their Priesthood and work hard. They are loyal to the royal within themselves.
They emulate what Elaine S. Dalton was talking about when she answered the question, “How do I raise a girl?”
And, as the mother of 3 girls, I couldn’t be more grateful to have them in my life.
Happy *late* Thanksgiving.
LOVE this post. It’s so true!
