- 24 large apples peeled, cored, sliced, and chopped into quarters
- 1 ½ cups water
- 2 tsp lemon juice I use more like 2 TBL just to be safe
- 1 ½ cups brown sugar 1 to 1 1/2 cups, depending on personal preference
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp vanilla
Wash and prep apples
Peel, core, and slice apples
Chop apples into quarters. Dunk apple quarters in a container of water and fruit fresh or pineapple juice to keep color bright until all the apples are prepped
Drain apple quarters and place in a large pot then add 1 1/2 cups water and the lemon juice. Cook down 25 minutes on medium heat until desired consistency
Add brown sugar and spices then cook for 5 more minutes
Ladle into jars, wipe rims, then screw on prepared lids and bands
Process 20 minutes, adjusting to your altitude
