Pyne Popcorn

A delightfully easy baked candy popcorn that's sure to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup popcorn unpopped
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup corn syrup
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ¾ tsp baking soda

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 250° then gather your ingredients, an air popper, and a large heavy bottom saucepan.

  • Pop popcorn with the air popper.

  • Melt butter, then add sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

  • Take off the heat and stir in baking soda.
  • It will start to appear rise up and become fluffy.

  • Pour over popped popcorn and mix well until the popcorn is all coated. If you don't have a huge bowl you'll want to divide it into two bowls to do this.

  • Spread on to 2 greased cookie sheets.

  • Bake for 30 minutes, stirring and rotating pans in the oven half way through.

  • Pull from oven and immediately scrape the candy popcorn from the sheet pans into a large bowl. Once into the bowl, break up the big pieces but not too small, about a child's palm size is perfect. Let cool.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

Do NOT let baked popcorn cool on the cookie sheet, it'll harden and not come out. Using a spatula, scrape the candy popcorn into a large bowl directly after pulling the pans from the oven. Break up into chunks and enjoy.
