If you’ve been around here for the long haul, you might remember 6 years back when I shared a “recipe” for my dear friend’s raw granola. You can find that old post HERE if you need a laugh! I use the word recipe loosely because at the time I didn’t have a way to add printable recipes to my blogger blog. And, my photography skills were extremely limited. I had a big girl camera but didn’t know how to use it so I ended up just using my phone most of the time.
Trying to find a workaround, I linked a PDF through Google Drive, which functioned but wasn’t exactly ideal. At the time I was so proud of myself and felt pretty clever. You can see the original recipe card I created below. I made it on a free photo editor site. Yay me! 😉
Well, after 3 people read the post, it was banished to blog purgatory for 6 long years.
Poor little ugly duckling of a recipe. Let’s be honest though, those early phone photos did not give Kyndra’s granola it’s due. So NOT appetizing. Not at all. No wonder it was forgotten. A great recipe, full of good intention, lost in the blogosphere. What can I say except I was learning?
Last week, Miss K shared her delicious granola in her Instagram stories and it got my wheels turning.
Holy cow, so much has changed in 6 years. Kyndra went from teaching preschool and chasing lambs to selling real estate and attending meetings with the governor. The girl is kicking butt! It has been so cool to see her grow and stretch her wings.
I firmly believe that there isn’t anything much better than watching your gal pals find their stride and really shine. Love!
My friend’s posts inspired me to dig out the forgotten duckling of a recipe from the blog archives and attempt to give it some new feathers. So here you go. I hope you love it as much now with the bright photos as you did back in the dark days.
And, if you are new here and have never tried it, please do.
IT IS SO GOOD!
Now, I should warn you…
this granola is raw and delicious, true. Buuuuut with nuts, peanut butter, chia seeds, and coconut oil, it is nowhere near low fat.
Wah wah waaaaah!
But, I figure if you’re going to enjoy a treat, a bowl of greek yogurt with a sprinkling of this deliciousness is way better than a donut or a candy bar. So, eat some on yogurt, or pour on some almond milk. Eat it with a spoon right out of the jar, whatever. I won’t judge.
Enjoy yourself.
We all deserve a little treat every once in a while!
P.S. You know that quote by C.S. Lewis that says, “Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.”
When I look at the difference in my recipe post 6 years ago and this recipe post today, I can’t help but feel a little awe. I know I’ve still got a loooong way to go in improving my photography and blogging skills but, it’s neat to see how far I have come. I’ve done so much growing and I didn’t even see it. It’s times like these that help a girl see the bigger picture, you know? A bit of much-needed perspective.
Good for the heart.
