About Me {Gypsy Magpie}

Hi, I’m Missy.
Welcome to my Happy Place.

Grab a comfy seat, a treat, and make yourself at home!
If we want to be friends we better get to know a little more about each other, so here goes…

I’m a mountain grown wife and mama of 4 rad people, a DIY addict, and a lover of vintage. I’m a nature exploring, campfire singing, day dreaming, recovering tom-boy. An old soul, born in the wrong generation, who loves a long walk down a forgotten dirt road, a field of wildflowers, a creaky porch swing, an abandoned old barn, a good six string, and a juicy jar of bottled peaches. A wielder of power tools and paint brushes, a collector of words and memories, a jack of all trades but a master at nothing.

The proverbial girl next door.

A faith filled, mistake making, adventure seeking honey bee, who is working hard to be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and child of God. I’m a little bit flighty, disorganized, forgetful, quirky, and I have the attention span of a 3 year old, which is why I started this messy blog experience…

To Grow some Roots to Balance my Wings

“Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he’s been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to just be people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old time rail journey… delays… sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling burst of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.”

{Jenkin Lloyd Jones}

You’re welcome to come along with me on this journey.
I have to warn you though, this isn’t one of those shiny, over-photoshopped, Mary Poppins “practically perfect in every way” blogs. This is a website about real life, my life.
I’m not perfect, but I’m trying each new day to be a little better than I was the day before.

I’m living, I’m learning, and I’m loving my life.

About Me {Gypsy Magpie}

 I am the creator of my own happiness.

Marjorie Pay Hinckley once said,
“I don’t want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.
I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone’s garden.
I want to be there with children’s sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived.”

If life really is what we make it, then I choose joy,
“The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache.”
{Marjorie Pay Hinckley}

Welcome to Gypsy Magpie,
I hope you enjoy the ride.
