Remember that bad habit I have of completing rad projects and not posting about them? Yeah, I did that again. What can I say other than I think I just get so wrapped up in daily life that months go by without realizing that I forgot to share. I get overwhelmed with all the things 30-something mothers do every day plus feel like I’m failing as a blogger, then run across a file of pictures I spaced and want to beat my head on the wall. Squirrels in my brain, lots and lots of squirrels.
Speaking of projects I forgot to post, check out this cute bold blue table from wait for it… April.
Oh, only 5 months ago. Better late than never I guess!
Peacock Blue Kids Table & Chairs
This itty bitty table and chair set belonged to my kids. I bought it at a yard sale when my oldest two were toddlers to go in their cowboy themed bedroom. When we moved to our new home 7 years ago, the set came with us and hung out in the corner of our family room where my two youngest used it for coloring. Over the last couple of years, the table and chairs were outgrown and sat lonely in the corner begging to be used. I have plans of building bookshelves in the family room so I decided to give the old kids set a makeover and pass it along to a family who would love it again.

Now back to the post…
- General Finishes Milk Paint in Antique White
- Country Chic Paint in Aurora
- General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Satin
- Purdy Brush
- Sanding Sponge
To create a bit of drama and dimension, I chose to hand paint this set. I purposely left brush strokes along the legs and gave the top an almost washed appearance so as to give it an aged patina without a lot of distressing. That gorgeous shade of peacock blue on the table is a limited edition color by Country Chic Paint. The chairs were painted a soft, antique white and then sanded smooth to contrast the rich blue table.
Since this is meant to be loved on and used by children, I chose to top coat it for protection. Country Chic is an all-in-one paint and probably would have been just fine alone but kids are rough on stuff and a little extra protection sure couldn’t hurt!
I sold this cute little set at my pop up shop this past spring.
My honorary brother and his wifey bought it for their ADORABLE baby girl. This table will be loved on for years and years to come! Maybe I’m weird but I can’t tell you how good it feels to see something with precious memories live on to create new ones. Just one of the little special perks that come with this quirky job of mine!
School is now in full swing and life is settling into somewhat of a routine around here so I’m going to do my best to post a little bit more consistently. Just please keep the squirrels in mind (pun intended!) and don’t hold me to too high a standard because I don’t want you to be disappointed. However, I promise you won’t be disappointed by the fun stuff coming soon. If you’re like me and love green, then I can’t wait for you to see the beautiful set of green and brass night stands I am currently working on! Oh, and the last of my 3 secret summer projects should FINALLY be installed sometime this week. I know I keep saying this, but it’s so awesome! I swear it will be worth the hype and wait!
See y’all soon.
How do you keep track of the crazy every-daily so your squirrels don’t take over?
I’d love to know!
