Needing a little something special to get your family in the spirit of Christmas this year?
My church just kicked off a wonderful Christmas focus called Light the World, all about making the world a brighter place through service. I can’t tell you enough how excited I am about this!

When we choose to follow the example of Jesus Christ and serve as He served, we can share His light.

If you aren’t a member of my faith, don’t get nervous. This isn’t a Mormon thing, this is a human thing.
With all the hurt and sadness, we need light. We are craving it. I love the passage in John 8:12 that says, “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” We can have that light by loving and serving others, just as He did. When we serve, it not only lights the life of those we are serving but ourselves. It’s the gift that keeps giving.

Don’t just hang lights this Christmas, be one!
Jesus served, and so can we.

Light the World is broken down into 25 days of service. Yesterday was the kick off with a Worldwide Day of Service but if you missed it don’t stress! There is still so much you can do! The general idea is to pick some ways that you and your family could serve those around you in a way that only you can. You don’t have to do what is written, it’s just a starting point to help you feel inspired. Oh, and if the thought of serving every single day feels too much, don’t sweat it! Choose one day and one service that speaks to you.
It doesn’t have to be over the top, just from your heart.
