Tuscan Red and Honeycomb Console Table

Years ago I helped a friend with some projects she wanted done for her new house. In exchange she gave me some old furniture she was getting rid of. This beaten down console table was one of the pieces I received. It had been kept in a bathroom and had water stains and warping but it was sturdy.

For the last 3-4 years it has sat in our upstairs hallway, holding a basket of picture books.

This spring I got a wild hair to turn it into a writing desk for my master bedroom. I cut it down and got it all set up in my room only to realize that it was now to short for me to sit on a chair and get my knees under PLUS the top was too tall to write on comfortably. Wah wah waaaaaah. Oopsies! DIY fail. It happens.

So, I put it back together as a console table and gave it a makeover.

    Now back to the post…

I’ve had this pretty red paint in my stash for a while now and was dying to try it out. It’s hard to tell in the pics but it’s a gorgeous red with a tiny hint of brown in it to give it some depth. Not quite brick red but headed that direction. Think Italy. So nice.

The red screamed look at me so I figure why not play it up! I papered the inside of the lid and drawer with the cutest yellow honeycomb paper. Needless to say, this is a statement piece. I know that white is all the rage and is what sells, but sometimes a girl just has to have a little color in her life! Live a little peeps!

My mama found the persimmon style knobs for me and they are perfect!

The combination of the paint, paper, and hardware just makes me smile. A sassy new personality for a tired and stained table. Wouldn’t this piece look darling in an entry way? Hide dog leashes, puppy treats, and toys inside, ready to go for the next dog walk!

    Which reminds me!
I started a new adventure in consignment. When I saw a post asking for consigners I figured, why the heck not? So I took this sassy little console table and all sorts of goodies over to Jenifer at her shop last week. It’s a little nerve wracking, but exciting too! If you are local, take a drive over and check out the shop! You’ll find everything from rocks to jewelry, log beds to tea cups.
