A few days before the Midway Market I realized I needed a few more filler items so I hit up some yard sales.

Right before I headed for home after a long morning of pickin’, my 11 year old navigator pointed out the cutest little wood high chair. I hit the brakes and pulled over. The gal was just closing up and packing away her leftovers when we walked up with our money. We snapped up the high chair along with a couple frames and loaded it all in the truck.

When we got home and unloaded our treasures I turned my attention to the little high chair. I decided to paint this guy in Zinc by Sweet Pickins Milk Paint so I scrubbed him down, sprayed him with a little shellac, and set to work. Do you think I remembered to take a before photo in the process? Ummmm, no.

What can I say, I had 4 days to be ready for the market and was feeling a teensy bit overwhelmed, darn it!

Originally, I had finished it with hemp oil because I wanted it to be completely kid/food safe. I mean, it IS a high chair.
Later I decided to add a couple coats of wax because people just don’t understand the awesomeness of hemp oil and I’m a pleaser.

Oh well, the wax gives it a lovely feel and sheen.

I wanted this yard sale find to look like a family heirloom so I lightly distressed it in places that would naturally wear over the years.
I love that milk paint gives that time worn appearance of age.

    Aren’t the legs adorable?

Aren't these high chair feet perfect? I love the way it the milk paint gives an aged appearance! | Gypsy Magpie

    Products I used:

    Spray Shellac
Sweet Pickins Milk Paint in Zinc
    Sweet Pickins Milk Paint Extra-Bond
    Hemp Oil
    Clear Wax

Wouldn’t this zinc high chair make the cutest photography or smash cake party prop?
I’m so happy with how it turned out!

With a little love and elbow grease, this little guy went from a forgotten yard sale cast off to a handsome and polished fellow.
